diabetic socks have a vented panel sewn into the soles of the socks which allow moisture to escape. This is important as sweat causes bacteria and bacteria can cause infections. Having drier feet eliminates bacteria thus keeping your feet healthier

Only these newer Physician's Choice socks have this ventilated feature.
Diabetic socks also cannot be thick as this would cause bulk in the shoe making your foot tighter thus causing restriction of blood flow. These are labeled by the manufacturer as being a light/medium weight which does not add bulk in your shoe.
