    Description

Beautiful vintage hand woven and hand dyed indigo cloth from Burkina Faso, West Africa. The cloth would make an excellent throw or oversized shawl.
The textile has been handwoven in 3 1/2" (9cm) wide strips machine sewn together to form one large cloth. Traditionally worn as a wrapper, these cloths all unique in shade, size and wear. The textile is about 48" (122cm) wide x 65" (152cm) long, it is not a perfect rectangle [see photos], with a raw edge. It is in a beautiful shade of navy blue indigo and the seams have been sewn in white cotton given the textile a stiped look which is very unusual. Two holes have been patched in darker blue indigo cotton and there are no stains, or other holes or repairs that I can see. The textile is in very good condition given it's age and origin, it is woven from unprocessed cotton, is medium weight and the cotton has a brushed handfeel. This is a very cool piece in real life and would make a wonderful unisex shawl.
I recommend had washing separately in cold water with mild soap. It has already been washed and can be used immediately. I have more vintage African indigo textiles so please see my store for other colors. Combined shipping available on all textiles. Please ask any questions prior to purchase. Thank you!
All items are 100% authentic and vintage items will have been previously worn, often in a traditional environment. Every effort has been made to describe any flaws in both words and pictures in the listings however a certain amount of wear should always be expected. Handmade items should also be expected to contain irregularities which I believe adds to their character and does not detract in any way from their quality.
