    Description

    You are bidding on a set of four (4) nickel-plated brass, heavy-duty marine hardware
    door
    hinges from the S.S. United States ocean liner. Hinges were acquired from the ship in the mid-1980s when she was berthed at the Norfolk VA International Terminal. Hinges measure 5-inches height by 4-inches width. The mounting hole diameter for two of the hinges is 7/32-inches and the mounting hole diameter of the other two hinges is 9/32-inches. Circa early 1950s. One of the hinges is missing an end cap and another hinge is missing both end caps. One hinge is marked on the back: Tourist Lounge. These hinges are not maker-marked but were probably manufactured by H.S. Getty of Philadelphia, PA (I have smaller cabin door hinges for sale from the S.S. United States that are marked Getty/Philadelphia, PA). Hinges are in good used condition and are still functional.
