    Description

Beautiful, vintage Cameroon (Bamileke or Bamum tribe) large Ndop indigo rafia stitched dyed fabric with red borders at the top and bottom.
Indigo pieces of this size, with red edging, were used as either backdrops behind king's thrones and royalty during ceremonies, and/or displayed on the walls of a king's palace. Smaller and longer works, such as one I have also listed would be used to walk on for the king and royal members of the tribe.  A rare find for an African textile collector, or someone interested in quality African indigo work!
    Over size measurement:
    162

    x 105

;  Very good-excellent conditon for its size, age, and use: some minor seam opening which can be expected; a few,
minor holes, except  at one corner in areas where the textiles
would be hung ; also some minor areas from dirt where piece might be near the ground.
