Description
Offered today is a beautiful antique solid 14k yellow gold Victorian Etruscan Revival bypass bangle bracelet with flowers and a dragonfly, in enamel and diamonds.  This is a true antique bracelet (not a reproduction), circa 1880.  This is a hinged bangle, with a nice tongue-and-box clasp and a safety chain.  The dragonfly has long been a meaningful motif in Victorian jewelry, symbolizing change and transformation in life, and new beginnings.
The interesting part about this bracelet is the center disc, which is 18k gold.  It may have been professionally added to this bracelet separately, being that it's 18k gold.   The centerpiece is done in champleve' enameling, and  depicts a dragonfly hovering over a flower and leaves of enamel and genuine rose cut diamonds.  It's really beautiful and makes this piece very unique.  The center disc does have some slight surface scratches in the gold (enlarge photos for details) but they do not detract from the beauty of the overall piece.
The "balls" on the ends of the bypass are very intricately detailed in the rope-type cable work seen on Etruscan revival pieces, with beads of gold at the ends.
The bracelet measures 2 inches across the inside of the oval and will fit a 6.25" or smaller wrist, and you have to carefully get it on over your hand, because the chain does not detach.  I managed to get it closed on my 6.5" wrist but it was snug.  It is not hallmarked, but the bracelet tests positive for solid 14k, and the center disc, for 18k. It weighs 17 grams and is in very good vintage condition, especially considering its age.
