Description
Fresh out of an estate is this early accounting ledger from the Portland Maine area. The first entry is dated 1830 and the last entry is July 1, 1870. Some of the accounts listed include Aetna Fire Insurance. The covers are leather and the spine has separated from the covers. We believe this ledger was maintained by a business in the northeast - not necessarily in Maine. Spans a gentleman's business in his lifetime. The interior is toned and the writing can be difficult to read. Interesting that in the 1860s there is a receipt for 000 US Bonds purchased. Obviously, not a poor man. The book is 13 3/4" tall x 8 1/2" wide. The exterior shows extensive wear.Early 1832 Through 1870 Accounting Ledger
