    Early 20th C African PRESTIGE Panel raffia Kuba People Shoowa Kasai VELVET Congo
    African Kuba raffia cloth, hand woven palm fiber of a cut-loop pile embroidery and flat stitch embroidery, the technique produces what is known as KASAI VELVET panels. These were used as currency and highly prized.
    This vintage example is an excellent example of the prestige panels made by Congo, Kuba people Shoowa. As is to be expected for this one of a kind woven cloth, of over 70- 90 years, the sides are not straight and there is minor wear showing in the back. See all pictures.
    EXCELLENT PREOWNED ANTIQUE Condition 9/10 slight tear has been repaired near one corner.
