UC pushed to break legal ground by hiring immigrant students without work permits to run its schools.

“We have a long track record of advocating on behalf of immigrants and other vulnerable populations,” said Jennifer L. Pizer, executive director of the Pacific Justice Institute, in an interview.

To get a look at “The New Jim Crow,” the institute sent students to New Orleans, Chicago, Los Angeles and Philadelphia to document the racial profiling that has become normalized with the enforcement of immigration law.
