Anna May Wong, who has been making it in Hollywood since the ’80s, will be the first Asian-American featured on U.S. currency.

The comedian will appear on $100 bills in the “Anna May Wong: An American Icon” campaign on the front and back of the dollar bill, as well as the “Oscar Gold” campaign.

Wong’s latest stand-up special, “The Best of Times,” was released in 2018 and earned critical acclaim. Her second Netflix stand-up special, the “Banned: Anna May Wong Talks about Her Bizarre Journey from Asian American Woman to Comedic Legend,” will be unveiled in the near future.

“The $100 bill is a perfect fit for Anna, because it’s what the public expects to see when they use their bank or credit card,” said Wendy Kim, founder of Witek Communications in San Francisco, who will be launching the Anna May Wong: An American Icon campaign.

“We have such a strong community of women of Asian descent in the U.S. and we love our Asian women and we love our Asian people and we want to create a space that says that and that’s who Anna May Wong is,” she added. “She’s an icon, she’s a pioneer, she’s a trailblazer, she’s a legend, and she’s an Asian icon, and so we want to make sure that when you have an iconic figure that you’re representing, you�
